USPS postmarks no longer always show the day you put mail in a mailbox.
Instead, the postmark may show the day the mail is processed at a USPS facility, which can be one or more days later.

This means:

• Mail may be postmarked after the day it was mailed

• Mailing on the due date may result in a late postmark
