What can I do to protect my information?

There are three basic things you can do.
  1. Do NOT provide your User ID, PIN or password to anyone else.
  2. Be sure your PIN or password is something known only by you. As you recall, your User ID, PIN or password are the ways you access your information. These should be kept confidential in order to reduce your security risks.
  3. Always log off. Once you have completed your transactions it is important to log off so you do not leave a "live" session active for someone else to use. If you forget to log off, we will do this for you but only after a period of time has passed.
Another tip to keep in mind is that if you are using a public PC such as those provided at a library, you will notice that you are not allowed to save your personal information once you have filled out the tax form. In order to retain a copy for your records, you must print out the completed copy. This is an important security measure intended to protect your security and assist in keeping your personal information confidential. Be sure to collect all of your personal information prior to leaving a public PC worksite.
