Purpose

Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) strives to be a results-based, innovative, and focused organization that is capable of rapidly responding to the needs of its citizens/stakeholders.

LDR exists to reasonably and efficiently collect state tax revenues to fund public services and regulate the sale of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and charitable gaming within Louisiana.

Resolving Outstanding Taxes

If you owe state taxes, it is important to address the balance as soon as possible. Penalties and interest will continue to accrue until the debt is paid in full, with penalties ranging from 0.5% to 25%.

If taxes remain unpaid, LDR will send a Notice of Tax Due—your opportunity to resolve the balance before enforcement actions begin. You may:
