St. Martinville woman arrested for tax fraud

Updated May 09, 2024

BATON ROUGE – A St. Martinville woman faces multiple felony charges on allegations of tax fraud.

Investigators with the Louisiana Department of Revenue say Ashley Renee Seaux submitted a false state individual income tax return along with a fabricated W-2 form and phony employment verification from a company that did not employ her. The scheme resulted in a fraudulent state income tax refund of more than $12,000.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Fugitive Task Force, working with the Texas Attorney General’s Fugitive Unit, arrested Seaux in Galveston, Texas, on May 1. She was transported to Louisiana and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Wednesday, May 8 on charges of Filing False Public Records and Felony Theft.

Seaux is the 74th person arrested under a joint anti-tax fraud initiative of the Louisiana Department of Revenue and the state Attorney General’s office.
