Gov. Edwards to attend open house for Lafayette regional office of Department of Revenue

BATON ROUGE – Gov. John Bel Edwards will join Secretary of Revenue Kimberly Lewis Robinson and state lawmakers from across Acadiana on Thursday, March 5, 2020, to celebrate the opening of the Lafayette regional office of the Louisiana Department of Revenue.

Most of LDR’s offices across the state closed or scaled back services in 2012 as funding shortfalls put a strain on the agency’s budget. A goal of the Edwards administration has been to restore full customer service to all Louisiana taxpayers.

“The closure of our Lafayette office left a customer service gap,” Secretary Robinson said. “The stabilization of the state budget under the governor’s leadership allows us to resume the level of service that taxpayers in Acadiana need and deserve.”

The LDR Lafayette regional office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 200 Dulles Drive, which also houses offices of the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. No appointments are necessary. Services include:

  • Filing and paying business taxes
  • Submitting completed state individual income tax returns and payments (staff cannot assist with the completion of tax returns)
  • Boat registrations
  • ATC/Video Poker/Lottery/Driver’s License/Wildlife & Fisheries tax clearances
  • Payment plans
  • Special event registrations
  • Resolving bank levies and wage garnishments

LDR resumed full customer service at its New Orleans office in 2018. Plans are progressing to re-open the agency’s regional offices in Alexandria, Lake Charles, Monroe and Shreveport.
