What if I didn't collect sales tax?

Vendors are responsible for the remittance of applicable sales tax whether they collected it or not. By law, sales tax must be collected on all sales. Sales tax may be added to the price of an item or included in the price of an item. If sales tax is included in the price of an item, the vendor must post, in a conspicuous location, a sign stating, "All prices include sales tax." Vendors who fail to collect sales tax on applicable transactions as required by law are responsible for making up the difference owed to the state and local jurisdictions.
